Passion Projects

Writing

I'm a poet, essayist, and fiction writer. I cannot stay on one project for too long, so I tend to have several going at once. Currently, I'm seeking to publish a poetry chapbook I've written called Heaven Is Now, and I am working on my first novel.

Dance

When I was in elementary and middle school, I was frequently bullied by athletic girls and consequently, I avoided gym class and team sports as much as I could. But now, as an adult, I have come to realize the potential of my body as means of creative expression. To that end, I've been learning bellydance and dabbling in some other dance styles. I tend to keep my dance videos off of social media, but that may soon change. Stay tuned.

Voice Work

I greatly enjoy doing audiobook narration and have been narrating on Audible on and off since 2016. Since a controlled environment is necessary to record audio of quality, I have not always been able to create such spaces, and so my list of credits isn't as long as I'd like. I hope to begin recording again once I have the space to dedicate to a sound-dampened booth.

Past Projects

Someday You'll Be My Wife

Way back in the spring of 2015, I sat down with the members of Tigerman and we brainstormed ideas for a music video for their song, "Someday You'll Be My Wife." By June, we had a script, and by the end of July, we had begun shooting. Even though the band were in the midst of music festival season, we still shot intermittently throughout the summer and completed principle photography in early October. We screened a sneak preview at Triumph Brewery in New Hope, PA, and then went back in for visual effects. On April 16, 2016, less than one year after we began, we proudly premiered what had grown into a music short film.

"Someday You'll Be My Wife" has screened at the New York City Independent Film Festival, NewFilmmakers New York, and Golden Door Film Festival among others, and is a Gold Cindy Award winner.

#tweetyourperiod

It started with a blog, and a basic sense of feeling fed-up with the stigma of menstruation.

This became my Twitter campaign, #tweetyourperiod. I wanted to open a dialogue. I wanted to change the conversation, or lack thereof, about an event that over half the population goes through, has gone through, or will go through, monthly. It was important to me to be as open as possible, no matter how uncomfortable that might make me. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive and galvanizing for this #RedSummer 2016 campaign, with coverage in Self, Bustle, Refinery29, HelloGiggles, Yahoo! UK, Metro UK, Metro (Netherlands), and others.
